Tectronix Hydraulic Folders

Hydraulic press brakes, or press brakes, are machine tools used to bend sheet metal and other metal parts up to 20 mm thick or more. They are made up of a V-shaped or U-shaped matrix (depending on the desired curvature) and a punch or die.

Tectronix bending machines are manufactured with cut parts, welded together in order to have a very strong and robust bending machine. Hydraulic press brakes are very common in various sectors of national and global industry. Hydraulic bending machines are essential for the manufacture of metal boxes, metal cabinets, automotive parts, white goods, etc.

Hydraulic folders can be simple (older ones), not manufactured or marketed by Tectronix.

Tectronix has semi-automatic bending machines (press bending presses), the so-called CN (Numerical Control), where the operator enters the measurements in the controller and places the sheet manually in the hydraulic bending machine.

How to choose a press brake?
The choice of press brake depends, first of all, on the type of metal of the parts (stainless steel, 16 gauge mild steel, etc).

Next, it is necessary to consider the factors that come into account for the calculation of the bending of the part, namely:

tensile strength;
the thickness and length of the plate;
the press bending length;
the opening of the matrix;
the inner radius of the part.

Finally, it is necessary to calculate the necessary bending force.

The bending force, or bending force, corresponds to the pressure that the press punch can apply on the piece during the bending operation.

A high bending force makes it possible to bend thick plates and hard metals.
Low bending forces are best suited for thin sheets.
Caution: using too low or too high a bending force could damage the press or the parts. To calculate the proper bending force for the intended application, refer to the machine’s instruction manual or a bending table.

Folders (press presses) can be hydraulic or electric

HYDRAULIC BENDERS (CLIDER PRESS)

The movement of the punch is driven by a system of hydraulic cylinders.
They have a high bending capacity (bending length up to 8 m, strength up to 1 200 tons).
They work around the clock, even when not performing folding operations, which increases electricity costs.
They require substantial and regular maintenance.
They are more powerful than electric press brakes.
They have a lower initial cost.
They are suitable for simple folding.

ELECTRIC BENDERS (CLIDER PRESS)

They are equipped with servomotors instead of hydraulic cylinders.
They offer greater production capacity.
Servomotors only consume energy during the course of bending operations.
They need little maintenance.
They are more versatile.
They have a higher initial cost than hydraulic press brakes, but lower operating costs.
